Looking out over the sub-dam slope of Longjingwan phosphogypsum stack, the former phosphogypsum surface is now covered with lush green grass, brimming with vitality. Kailin Mining & Fertilizer has boldly pursued technological innovation. Raw phosphogypsum is subjected to harmless modification and mixed with biological agents to form a new improvement medium, which locally replaces soil for slope revegetation, bringing greenery back to the desolate old dam.

The slope is now thick with green grass.

Up to now, the vegetation survival rate on the sub-dam slope of the phosphogypsum stack has steadily exceeded 98%. Dust suppression delivers remarkable results, and sediment loss from the slope during rainfall has dropped significantly. The practice achieves multiple benefits including industrial solid waste disposal, slope safety protection, ecological restoration and source control of dust pollution. It blazes a new path of ecological governance featuring “treating waste with waste and turning waste into treasure”.

Starting from March 2026, the Phosphogypsum Stack Operation Department of Kailin Mining & Fertilizer leveraged the existing processes of harmless treatment facilities and launched technical research on ecological greening for the sub-dam slope. It strove to explore an in-situ ecological restoration model of “modified phosphogypsum plus biological agents”. The project team carried out multiple rounds of comparative tests and repeatedly optimized process parameters. After nearly half a year, a demonstration section of slope greening was successfully built.

Going forward, Kailin Mining & Fertilizer will continuously monitor the growth of slope vegetation, improve supporting interception and drainage facilities, systematically summarize and standardize greening technologies, and steadily expand the scope of demonstration application.
