  Han Chaoying is the chemical process supervisor of the Science, Technology and Project Management Department of Guizhou Kailin Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China GPC. She is mainly responsible for the R&D of chemical processes at the company.

   During her career, she has been granted a total of 44 patents and published 16 papers. She has led the industrialization of key technologies such as wet-process phosphoric acid, battery-grade phosphate and phosphorus resource recovery, generating remarkable annual incremental benefits and making outstanding contributions to the technological progress of the phosphorus chemical industry in Guizhou Province.

   Han Chaoying holds that any technology moving from the laboratory to industrialization must break through three tough hurdles.

   The first is laboratory verification. To explore the optimal process parameters, a single set of data often requires hundreds of repeated experiments.

   The second is pilot scale-up, where deviations easily occur. Lab-scale data frequently show discrepancies in pilot plants, demanding step-by-step troubleshooting and parameter adjustment until lab results are reproduced and a process package supporting industrialization is formed.

   The third is industrial commissioning, which tests comprehensive capabilities. Costs, safety and stability of large-scale production must be coordinated as a whole.

   Over 14 years, she and her team have driven the industrialization of a series of high value-added new products, including water-soluble fertilizers, slow and controlled-release fertilizers, and battery-grade phosphates, with dedication and perseverance.
As a bridge between R&D and industrialization, Han’s work covers the entire process:
  • Acting as a consultant in R&D, evaluating the feasibility of new technologies based on the company’s resource advantages;
  • Serving as a promoter in technology transfer, translating technical plans into specific engineering projects;
  • Working as a troubleshooter in industrial production, resolving technical bottlenecks in equipment operation at any time.
   In the traditionally male-dominated phosphorus chemical heavy industry, Han has never regarded gender as an obstacle. She has deeply appreciated the broad platform the Group provides for female technicians — not only absolute equality in job access, but also encouragement for women to take on key roles through the Women’s Science and Technology Innovation Action and a multi-channel talent development system. Under her guidance and mentorship, a group of young technical talents has grown rapidly and won numerous awards in various innovation competitions.
  Han Chaoying stated frankly that every personal breakthrough would not be possible without the sound management mechanism and substantial R&D investment of China GPC, which empower technicians to innovate boldly and provide opportunities for cross-departmental teamwork to tackle key problems. National and provincial innovation laboratories have fostered a favorable innovation ecosystem. The sound multi-channel development system covering management, technology and skills, together with the innovation and efficiency incentive mechanism, make every dedicated and capable technician feel motivated and confident.
